The Old Woods was formed in Crockett, California by Bay Area musician Fred Odell in 2018. Seeking to delve into instrumental, music, he began recording  the album “ The Old Woods” in 2019. The album was finished after a relocation to the East Coast and released in March, 2024. Drummer Mike Chiarello (Maik Sea, Lyman) joined in the fall of 2024, and bassist Brian Temples (Book of Kills, The Parasols, Big Fast Car) finalized the trio lineup in summer, 2025. The band explores riff based improvisation that touches on 70's power trio rock, space rock, and psychedelic soundscapes.
